Foundation Degree in Leadership & Management

The Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) has developed a unique Foundation Degree in Leadership & Management with the University of Hertfordshire.

Qualification:

  • Foundation Degree in Leadership & Management 
  • ILM Level 4 Extended Diploma in Leadership & Management
  • ILM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Leadership & Management

Suitable for:
Practising or potential leaders and managers working in any discipline who would like to develop their leadership and management skills and knowledge to:

  • Improve their performance and productivity 
  • Deliver results both for themselves and their organisations
  • Equip themselves with the knowledge and skills required to meet the challenges facing themselves and their business
  • Gain academic recognition for their achievements and learning 

Entry requirements:
Students with UK Level 3 or equivalent qualifications in a business, leadership, management of enterprise discipline, or who can demonstrate these disciplines within their work role. This requirement may be waived if students have some supervisory or junior management experience or can demonstrate leadership in vocational or a voluntary capacity.

Duration:
2 years

Programme structure:
The programme structure is is built around the following modules:

  • Management
  • Leadership
  • People
  • Finance 
  • Entrepreneurship and Marketing
  • A workplace based learning project

Students are expected to attend their study centre in accordance with their curriculum.

Assessment:
The aim of the FdA in Leadership and Management is to develop managers and enhance their career opportunities. Assessments are therefore practical and applies, including:

  • reports around work roles and projects
  • wokplace-based project assignment 
  • presentations
  • case studies on the work completed

The Foundation Degree in Leadership & Management has no traditional exams.

Progression routes:
On completion of the FdA, students can progress to further higher level education study, subject to circumstances and status.
